Birmingham UKYP Election 2008 – BGfL Voting Guidance
The Election 2008 takes place between Wednesday 23 January 2008 to Wednesday 6 February 2008. The results will be announced on Saturday 9 February 2008.

- You have 5 votes
- You can vote for 5 separate candidates
- You cannot vote more than once for each candidate
Before you vote: Read all the candidates’ manifestos – you want to make sure that you are voting for someone who represents your views. Each candidate should have their manifesto available in their details online at www.bgfl.org/vote2008 If possible, talk to the candidates, you can then ask them questions about specific issues that are important to you. Find out what they want to achieve and how they intend to do that. How to register to vote: Once you have decided who to vote for, you need to register. Once you have registered, your unique Voter Identification Number (VIN) will be sent to your email address. - Go to the Bham UKYP Election 2008: www.bgfl.org/vote2008
- Click on any “Register to Vote” link: You will then see a box at the bottom of the page entitled “Get Your Voter Identification Number”.
- Enter your email address.
- Click the “Submit” button: You will then see a “Thank you for registering with us” message. Your VIN will be sent to your email address.
- Check your email account: The email is normally sent immediately, but if there are many people registering, it may take a little longer. The email you receive will include your VIN, a link to the online Election and the number of votes you can cast.
Please note: The automated email we send which includes your VIN may be blocked by your email account/spam settings, so please check your spam folder if you have registered but have not received your VIN. Alternatively, you could give appropriate permission to receive emails from content@bgfl.org.
How to vote: Having registered, you can now vote for your candidates. - Go to the Bham UKYP Election 2008 - www.bgfl.org/vote2008
- Click on the first candidate you want to vote for. Their details will be displayed.
- Click on the “Vote” button.
- Enter your voter details: your email address, VIN, First Name (NOT FAMILY NAME), and school from the drop-down menu. Select “Other” at the end of the schools list, if your school is not listed. (Note: Please take care to enter your details correctly, otherwise your vote will not be accepted.)
- Click on “Submit Vote”.
- To vote for your next candidate: Click on link to Election homepage (top left hand corner) and repeat steps 1 to 5. Remember you have five votes!
